Day 1. Arrival at Yangon Airport.
Your representative will meet you at the airport and escort you to your transfer car. Check in to your chosen hotel. If you have arrived on a morning flight embark on your half day orientation tour of Yangon.
Day 2. Early morning transfer for your flight to Bagan. A transfer car will meet you on arrival to take you to your chosen hotel. Enjoy a full day tour of the archaeological zone with sunset from one of the tallest pagodas.
Day 3. Have breakfast at your hotel. Optional dawn champagne balloon ride over the pagodas of Bagan. Commence your full day tour of Bagan, a ‘tentative’ world heritage site. Sunset photographs from a different pagoda.
Day 4. After breakfast transfer to the airport for the short flight to Mandalay. After checking into your chosen hotel your car will deliver you to the bank of the mighty Ayeyarwady River for the boat ride to Mingun Pagoda. Explore the unfinished pagoda and continue to the gold-hammering workshops of Mandalay. Look around Shwenandaw Monastery and finish the day with sunset views from Mandalay Hill.
Day 5. Enjoy your breakfast then embark on a tour of the ancient cities area to the South of Mandalay. Continue in the afternoon onto Sagaing, the religious centre of Myanmar home to some 500 pagodas. Sunset photographs at the famous U Bein Bridge.
Day 6. After breakfast transfer to the airport for the flight to Heho. On arrival continue by car to spend the afternoon at the cave temples of Pindaya. Before dusk wind your way through the Shan Hills to the hill station of Kalaw.
Day 7. After breakfast set out on today’s trek to Taunggyiche village, home of the Palaung hill-tribe. Explore the nearby Myinmahti cave and have lunch at the local monastery. Continue onto Lamine Taungyoe village where you meet your car and continue by road to Inle Lake and your hotel.
Day 8. After breakfast set off for a full day’s exploration of the Inle Lake area. Photograph the Intha fishermen’s leg-rowing technique, wind through the floating gardens and explore the stilt villages, monasteries and Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda.
Day 9. Enjoy your breakfast and make your way to your boat for a trip across the lake to an ethnic 5-day market. Continue onto the ‘floating’ village and market of Ywama. Explore the stilted villages and floating gardens before crossing the lake to Nyaungshwe town. Drive to Heho for your afternoon flight to Yangon. Transfer on arrival to your chosen hotel.
Day 10. Our air-conditioned car will meet you after breakfast for the drive to the ‘tentative’ world heritage site of Bago. Visit sights such as the huge Shwemawdaw Pagoda, taller, at 376 feet than the more famous Shwedagon of Yangon. Continue in the afternoon to magical Mt Kyaiktiyo – The Golden Rock.
Day 11. We recommend getting up early to explore this most fascinating of Buddhist sites; dawn over the rock is sublimely beautiful. Observe the crowds paying their respects and have a local-style lunch before returning to Yangon in the afternoon. On the way visit Taukkyan WWII War Cemetery to pay tribute to the 27,000 allied soldiers laid to rest here.
Day 12. Depart from Yangon Airport.
Have breakfast at your hotel. There may be time for a little last-minute shopping at Scott Market before your transfer back to the airport for your onward flight. If you are departing on an evening flight we can arrange another excursion for today.
