Day 1. Arrival at Yangon Airport.
Day 2. Have breakfast at your hotel. Enjoy a full day excursion in the colonial city of Yangon culminating in a visit to the breathtaking Shwedagon Pagoda.
Day 3. An early start today to transfer to the airport for your flight to Mandalay. Upon arrival check into your chosen hotel before continuing by car to the mighty Ayeyarwady River for the one hour boat ride to Mingun, home of the huge and famous unfinished Pagoda. Return to the city via Kuthodaw Pagoda, ‘the world’s largest book’ and enjoy the panoramic sunset views over the city from Mandalay Hill.
Day 4. Enjoy your breakfast then embark on a tour of the ancient cities area to the South of Mandalay. Continue in the afternoon onto Sagaing, the religious centre of Myanmar home to some 500 pagodas. Sunset photographs at the famous U Bein Bridge.
Day 5. Breakfast at your hotel is followed by a transfer to the airport for the short flight to Bagan. On arrival check into your hotel and then head off for a full day tour in this ‘tentative’ world heritage site. View an unforgettable sunset from one of the tallest pagodas.
Day 6. Optional dawn champagne balloon ride over the pagodas of Bagan. After breakfast enjoy a full days exploration of the Bagan archaeological zone including highlights such as Shwesandaw and Gawdawpalin pagodas. Spend some time observing the work at a lacquer ware factory and watch the sunset from a different pagoda.
Day 7. After your breakfast transfer to the airport for the short flight to Heho. On arrival your car will meet you for the scenic drive to Pindaya and its famous caves. Spend the afternoon here enjoying the cooler hill climate before proceeding onto Inle Lake and your chosen hotel.
Day 8. After breakfast set off for a full day’s exploration of the Inle Lake area. Photograph the Intha fishermen’s leg-rowing technique, meet the local tribal people and observe the fascinating local cottage industries. Visit the now famous ‘jumping cat’ monastery and Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda with its five sacred gold-covered Buddha images.
Day 9. After breakfast your private car will transfer you back to the airport for the short flight to Thandwe. A brief drive will bring you to your beach hotel where you can relax for a day after your week of sightseeing.
Day 10. A relaxing morning on the beach before your transfer and flight north to the Rakhine town, and former British capital of Sittwe – the gateway to Mrauk U.
Day 11. After breakfast board your boat for a leisurely ride along the tidal Kaladan River to Mrauk U. Check into your hotel and start to discover this hidden ‘tentative’ world heritage site.
Day 12. A full day in the archaeological zone exploring the highlights of this city dating from the 15th Century. Today’s highlights include the massive Ratanabon Pagoda and the Kothaung Temple built in 1553.
Day 13. Another full day of exploration north of Mrauk U to the remains of the kingdom of Vesali. Continue onto Mahamuni Pagoda, home of a historic Buddha image. We can also arrange a visit to a Chin village, home to women who have had their faces tattooed as per local custom.
Day 14. After breakfast depart by boat for the return journey to Sittwe. On arrival transfer to the airport for your onward flight to the idyllic resort of Ngapali Beach.
Day 15 - 17. Sunbathe, enjoy the fabulous seafood and generally just relax at your chosen hotel by this palm-fringed beach.
Day 18. A last morning at the beach followed by the short ride to the airstrip for your flight back to Yangon. Transfer on arrival to your city hotel.
Day 19. Depart from Yangon Airport.
